Transmission Category of HIV Infection
Six common transmission categories are male-to-male sexual contact, injection drug use, male-to-male sexual contact and injection drug use, hetero sexual contact, mother-to-child (perinatal) transmission, and other (includes blood transfusions and unknown cause).
